A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
On iPhone and iPad, updating Word, Excel, and other Microsoft 365 apps is done through the App Store, not through an “About Word” menu (that instruction applies to macOS, not iOS).
To update Microsoft 365 apps on iOS before July 13:
- Open the App Store on the iPad or iPhone.
- Tap the profile icon (top-right).
- Scroll to Available Updates (or Updates section).
- Look for Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Tap Update next to each app, or tap Update All.
To ensure the device can run the required versions after July 13, the iOS/iPadOS version must be at least iOS 17.0 and the Microsoft 365 apps must be at least version 2.93:
- Check iOS/iPadOS version:
- Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
- Install any available updates so the device is on iOS 17 or later.
If the device cannot be updated to iOS 17 or later, the Microsoft 365 apps cannot reach the required version and will go into reduced functionality mode after July 13 (view/print only). In that case, use Microsoft 365 for the web via a supported browser on a device that meets the requirements.
