Follow these steps to get PowerPoint (and other Office apps) working again:
- Update Office
- Open any Office app that still starts (Word, Excel, or PowerPoint if it opens).
- Create a new blank document or presentation.
- Go to File > Account.
- Under Product Information, select Update Options > Update Now.
- If Enable Updates appears, select that first, then choose Update Now.
- Let updates finish, then close the You're up to date! window and restart PowerPoint.
- Use the built‑in Repair when the app says it has a problem
If PowerPoint shows a message like “has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly” and offers to Repair now, let it run that quick repair. If that does not fix it, continue with the next step. - Run an Online Repair of Office
This fixes most “stopped working” or “run into an error” problems:- Open Settings in Windows.
- Go to System > Apps > Installed apps (or Apps > Installed apps depending on your view).
- Find Microsoft Office in the list.
- Select the three dots (…) next to it and choose Modify.
- Choose Online Repair, then select Repair and let it complete.
- When it finishes, restart the PC and try opening PowerPoint again.
- If it still fails after Online Repair
If no Office apps open even after Online Repair, completely uninstall Office from Settings > Apps > Installed apps, restart the PC (not just shut down), then reinstall Office from the Microsoft account or school portal where it was originally installed.
These steps are designed to get PowerPoint working again quickly so it can be used for the school project.
