Hi everyone,
I'm running Windows Insider Preview Build 26220.8680 on an Acer Aspire 7 (A715-76G) and I'm seeing an issue with the Windows Camera app.
Symptoms:
Windows Camera app shows a gray preview and eventually fails with error 0xA00F4240 (0x80004003).
Camera LED turns on normally.
OBS Studio can access the webcam successfully, including at 1280×720.
OBS Virtual Camera works correctly.
WebcamTests.com works correctly.
Google Meet works at lower resolutions, but fails when 720p is selected.
The webcam driver is the Microsoft driver version 10.0.26100.8680.
Because the camera works correctly in OBS and browser-based applications, this appears to be a Camera app or camera framework issue rather than a hardware problem.

If anyone else is running Build 26220.8680, could you check whether the Windows Camera app works correctly and whether 720p webcam capture behaves as expected?
Thanks.

AI answer
This behavior matches a software issue in the camera stack/app on recent Insider builds rather than a hardware or basic driver problem, since the webcam works in OBS, browser tests, and at lower resolutions in Meet.
On Insider builds, the main options are to try the standard camera troubleshooting steps and, if those do not help, either roll back the problematic update or pause Insider updates and wait for a newer build that fixes the regression.
Try the following in order:
Because this is an Insider Preview build, if the standard troubleshooting (privacy, troubleshooter, driver update, Windows Update) does not fix the problem, the remaining realistic path is to wait for a newer build or revert/clean‑install a known‑good build where the Camera app works.

Hi,
I had the same issue recently, but turning on Basic Camera Mode in Settings fixed it for me.
Go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Cameras → ACER HD User Facing → Advanced camera options → Turn on Basic Camera Mode.
Enabling this worked for me.
