Scheduling and managing events using Outlook.com calendar
For a shared Outlook.com calendar that has disappeared or stopped syncing/editing after Microsoft’s calendar platform changes, the supported remediation is to remove and re-add or reconnect the calendar/account so it is upgraded to the new sharing platform and resynced.
For Outlook on the web / Outlook.com:
- If the issue is with a shared Outlook.com calendar that is no longer editable or syncing after migration, reconnect the Outlook.com account in Outlook for Windows as described in the Outlook.com guidance. This ensures mail and calendars sync correctly with the updated service.
- If the shared calendar is still present but not upgraded, remove and re-add it so it is recreated on the new sharing platform:
- In Outlook (desktop), go to the Calendar module and locate the shared calendar.
- Right-click the shared calendar and select Delete Calendar.
- Close and restart Outlook.
- From the Home ribbon in the Calendar module, select Add Calendar > Open Shared Calendar… (do not use Add from address list, as that adds it as a legacy MAPI shared calendar).
- Enter the name of the person who shared the calendar and select OK.
- The shared calendar will reappear and should now be upgraded.
- Immediately after re-adding, the calendar may appear empty; initial sync can take several minutes, and for very large calendars, a few hours.
If the calendar still does not appear or sync correctly after these steps, use the Outlook.com in-product Help entry point to contact support, or the general Outlook.com support links, for further investigation of the specific account.
