I have an iMac with an intel Core i5 processor running macOS Ventura. Ventura is the most recent OS for the machine. I have autoupdates activated. A new version of OneDrive was installed and it will not operate with Ventura. How do I remove the new OneDrive and reinstall a prior version that worked perfectly with Ventura

To get back to a OneDrive version that works on macOS Ventura, remove the current app, then install a Ventura‑compatible standalone build and prevent it from auto‑updating.

  1. Uninstall the current OneDrive
    • Open Applications.
    • Drag OneDrive.app to the Trash.
    • Empty the Trash.
  2. Install a Ventura‑compatible standalone version
    • For Ventura 13.7.8, users have reported success with the standalone installer version 26.032.0217.0003.
    • Make sure any newer/current OneDrive versions are removed from Applications before installing this older package.
    • Run the downloaded OneDrive.pkg and complete installation, but do not launch OneDrive yet.
  3. Disable OneDrive auto‑update daemons (so it does not upgrade itself to the incompatible build)
    • Open Terminal (Finder → Applications → Utilities → Terminal).
    • Run these commands, entering the Mac admin password when prompted:
           sudo launchctl remove com.microsoft.OneDriveStandaloneUpdater
           sudo launchctl remove com.microsoft.OneDriveStandaloneUpdaterDaemon
           sudo launchctl remove com.microsoft.OneDriveUpdaterDaemon

    • Then remove the updater launch agents/daemons so they do not come back:
           sudo rm /Library/LaunchAgents/com.microsoft.OneDriveStandaloneUpdater.plist
           sudo rm /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.microsoft.OneDriveStandaloneUpdaterDaemon.plist
           sudo rm /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.microsoft.OneDriveUpdaterDaemon.plist

    • Restart the Mac.
  4. Start OneDrive and sign in
    • After restart, open OneDrive.app from Applications.
    • Sign in and reconfigure any selective sync options as needed.

If OneDrive still fails after these steps, repeat the uninstall, then try the slightly older installer version 26.055.0323.0004, which has also been reported to work on Ventura 13.7.8.

Note: Files in OneDrive are not deleted by uninstalling the app; they remain in the cloud and will resync after signing in again.
