Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
To add an iPad to a Microsoft 365 account, install the Microsoft 365 apps and sign in with the Microsoft account or work/school account that has the subscription, and (optionally) add the email account.
- On the iPad, open the App Store.
- Install the Microsoft 365 apps:
- Either install the all‑in‑one Microsoft 365/Office (Copilot) app, or
- Install individual apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneDrive.
- Open any installed Office app (for example, Word or Excel).
- Select Sign in and enter the same Microsoft account or work/school account that owns the Microsoft 365 subscription.
- After signing in once, that account is available to the other Microsoft 365 apps on the iPad.
- To use OneDrive storage, open the OneDrive app, sign in with the same account, and files will sync to the device.
To add the Microsoft 365 email account to the iPad Mail app:
- Open Settings on the iPad.
- Go to Mail > Accounts > Add Account.
- Select Microsoft Exchange.
- Enter the Microsoft 365 email address and a description, then tap Next.
- Tap Sign In and enter the account password.
- When prompted, tap Accept to grant permissions.
- Choose what to sync (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc.) and tap Save.
After these steps, the iPad is effectively added to the Microsoft 365 environment: Office apps are licensed via the signed‑in account, OneDrive is connected, and email is configured.
