Incoming emails marked as spam

All emails arriving in my inbox are labelled as "spam." For each received email, I receive the following email from The Outlook Team: "You recently reported a message as junk or abuse. We wanted to thank you and let you know that your report has been received." Can you help resolve this annoying problem?

Dear @LSTJA,

Good day, and thank you for reaching out to the Q&A Forum.

I’m sorry to hear that all incoming emails are being labelled as spam, and that you are also receiving repeated messages from The Outlook Team saying,“You recently reported a message as junk or abuse.” I can understand how frustrating and disruptive this would be, especially if legitimate emails are being affected.

As a forum moderator, I genuinely wish I could directly access your mailbox or check the backend mail flow settings to diagnose and fix this for you. However, our role here is limited to providing general guidance and solutions that users can try on their side.

From my research, the message you are receiving usually appears when an email has been reported through Outlook’s Report Message or built-in Report feature. When a message is reported as Junk, Phishing, or Not Junk, Outlook may send a copy of the message to Microsoft to help improve filtering.

To better understand the issue, could you please confirm a few details?

  1. Are the emails actually being moved to the Junk Email folder, or are they still in the Inbox but only labelled as spam?
  2. Are you using Outlook on the web, Outlook classic or Outlook on mobile?
  3. Did this start after you clicked “Report Junk”, “Report Phishing" on one or more messages?
  4. Are all senders affected, or only certain senders/domains?
  5. Are you using a personal Outlook.com account or a Microsoft 365 work/school account?
  6. Do you have any inbox rules that may be moving or categorizing messages as spam?

In the meantime, you may want to check the following:

1.Review the Blocked Senders list

If you are using Outlook on the web, select File > Settings, then go to Mail > Junk email and review the blocked senders and domains list.

2.Check Outlook rules

In Outlook on the web, go to the same settings page, open Rules, and check whether any rule may be moving, categorizing, or redirecting messages unexpectedly.

3.Mark legitimate emails as Not Junk

If legitimate emails are being sent to Junk Email, open the message in the Junk Email folder and use Report > Not junk to move them back and help correct the classification.

If this is a Microsoft 365 work account, please ask your admin to check User reported messages, mail flow rules, and anti-spam policies in Microsoft Defender/Exchange admin center. Admins can review user-reported messages from Outlook in the Microsoft Defender portal. If you don't know who your IT administrator is, please refer to this article: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

For reference: Report phishing and suspicious emails in Outlook for admins - Microsoft Defender for Office 365

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments so I can continue to support you. Thank you for your patience and understanding. I'm looking forward to your reply.
