Grammarly for use in Word

Grammarly has been retiring the old Microsoft Office/Word add-in, so if it disappeared from Word, that is not something Microsoft can restore from inside Word. The subscription itself is still with Grammarly, not Microsoft, so it does not automatically change or cancel just because the old Word add-in is no longer supported.

If you still want to use Grammarly with Word on Windows, it is recommended that you install the current Grammarly for Windows app from Grammarly’s official site instead of looking for the old Word add-in. This newer app works with Microsoft Office 2016 and newer on Windows 10 and 11. It may not look or behave exactly like the old Word sidebar, but it is the supported replacement from Grammarly.

If you specifically want an add-in inside Word rather than a separate app, you could also look at LanguageTool, which has a Microsoft Word add-in available through Microsoft AppSource. That is not the same as Grammarly, but it is a grammar and style checker that works inside Word.

To cancel Grammarly, sign in at Grammarly, go to Account > Subscription, and choose Cancel Subscription. If you paid through Apple or another app store, you need to cancel it from that store instead. Cancelling usually stops the next renewal, but you should still have access until the current paid period ends.
