The message indicates that the Google account has never been used with the Google Play Store on an Android device. Until the account is associated with a device through the Play Store app, apps like "reading.com" cannot be installed from the web.
To resolve this:
- On the Android device, open Settings.
- Go to Accounts (may appear as Users & accounts, Passwords, passkeys & accounts, or Manage accounts depending on the device).
- Make sure the same Google account being used on the web is added to the device.
- Open the Google Play Store app on the device and sign in with that Google account.
- Let the Play Store fully load once. This associates the account with the device.
- Then try installing the "reading.com" app again from the Play Store app on the device.
If there are issues installing from the Play Store app (for example, errors or failures when downloading), clear the Play Store cache and data, then retry:
- Open Settings on the device.
- Go to Apps or Application Manager.
- Scroll to All apps, then find and select Google Play Store.
- Tap Force stop.
- Tap Clear cache.
- If the issue persists, repeat and tap Clear data.
- Repeat steps 3–5 for Google Play services (clear cache only as a first step).
- Reopen the Play Store and try installing the app again.
If the problem continues, use the Google Play Troubleshooter or Google Play Help Center for further Play Store–specific diagnostics:
