How to access language and subtitle feature on a Mac running powerpoint

Based on your sharing, the most likely reason Languages/Subtitles are greyed out is that your PowerPoint version is probably too old for these features. Refer to the information in Update PowerPoint to maintain Captions - M365 Admin, Microsoft has plan to upgrade the backend captions service in 2026, and user with versions older than 16.103.1207.4 (for MacOS) will lose this feature.

That said, I highly recommend you should first update your PowerPoint version to see if it helps resolve the issue. On Mac, you can do that through open PowerPoint > Help > Check for Updates or check for PowerPoint updates in Mac App Store if PowerPoint was installed from there.
