A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
The prompt is coming from a cached Microsoft/OneDrive credential stored in macOS Keychain. Removing that cached credential and letting OneDrive/Office recreate it stops the repeated keychain password window.
Follow these steps on the Mac:
- Quit all Microsoft apps
- Close OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.
- Open Keychain Access
- Use Spotlight (Cmd+Space), type
keychain, and open Keychain Access. - If it doesn’t appear, open Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access.
- Use Spotlight (Cmd+Space), type
- Find the cached OneDrive/Drive credential
- In the search box (top right), type
OneDriveor a distinctive part of the message such asDrive Standalone Cached Credential. - Look for an item named similar to:
- OneDrive Cached Credential
- or the exact entry that matches the “Drive Standalone Cached Credential Business-Business1” wording.
- In the search box (top right), type
- Delete the cached credential
- Select the matching credential entry.
- Press Delete (or right‑click > Delete).
- Confirm deletion.
- (If still prompted) Remove related OneDrive/Office keychain items
- Still in Keychain Access, search again for
OneDrive. - Delete any remaining OneDrive Cached Credential entries.
- Optionally, if the prompt is clearly from OneDrive for Business, you can also remove related OneDrive/Office sync entries as described:
- Delete
UBF8T346G9.OneDriveSyncClientSuite.plistandUBF8T346G9.OfficeOneDriveSyncIntegration.plistfrom/Users/<username>/Library/Group Containers/if you are troubleshooting sync/account issues as well.
- Delete
- Still in Keychain Access, search again for
- Restart OneDrive / Office
- Start OneDrive again (via Spotlight: type OneDrive and open it).
- Sign in when prompted. A fresh credential will be stored, and the repeated keychain password window should stop appearing.
If the prompt is from Office apps in general (not just OneDrive), and it keeps asking for keychain access every time an Office app opens, restore Office keychain permissions:
- Quit all Office apps.
- Open Keychain Access.
- Select the login keychain in the top-left.
- From the File menu, choose Lock Keychain "login".
- Open an Office app (for example, Word).
- When prompted for keychain access, enter the Mac admin password and choose OK (and Always Allow if offered).
- Close and reopen the app to confirm the prompt no longer appears.
