power does not show shutdown

The missing Shut down and Restart options are controlled by a policy that can hide all power commands except Lock.

To show Shut down and Restart again, the policy "Remove and prevent access to the Shut Down, Restart, Sleep, and Hibernate commands" must be disabled (or not configured). When this policy is enabled:

1. The Shut down, Restart, Sleep, and Hibernate commands are removed from the Start menu.
2. The Power button is removed from the Windows Security screen (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) and from the sign-in screen.

On a device managed by Group Policy (for example, in an organization or on an Insider build configured by IT):

1. Open the Local Group Policy Editor (if allowed):
   • Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar.
   • Or User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar.
2. Find Remove and prevent access to the Shut Down, Restart, Sleep, and Hibernate commands.
3. Set it to Disabled or Not configured.
4. Apply the change and sign out or restart.

On devices managed by MDM/Intune, equivalent CSP/ADMX policies (for example, HidePowerOptions or the Start menu power CSPs like HideShutDown, HideRestart, HidePowerButton) must be cleared or set to allow these options again.

If the device is managed by an organization, contact the administrator, as these settings may be enforced and cannot be changed locally.
