A program that grants points for using Bing search, which users can redeem for gift cards, sweepstakes entries, or charitable donations.
An Xbox gift card or rewards card does not “download” as a file. It is redeemed to a Microsoft account, and then the balance or entitlement appears in the account for use in Microsoft Store or Xbox.
If the card “won’t download” or does not appear to work when trying to use it for Xbox content, the issue is typically with Microsoft Store/app behavior rather than the card itself. Use these steps to troubleshoot installing or downloading Xbox apps/games on Windows:
- Confirm the purchase or entitlement
- Go to your Order history while signed in with the same Microsoft account used to redeem the card.
- Verify the game, subscription, or content shows as Owned or purchased.
- Install from Microsoft Store library
- Open Microsoft Store on Windows.
- Select My Library.
- Find the Xbox app or game; if there is a Download icon, select it to install.
- If the app/game will not install or gets stuck
- Make sure the device is signed in with the same Microsoft account that owns the content.
- Restart the PC after any recent Windows Updates.
- If the Install button is missing or not working, open the product page from your Order history and select Install there.
- If downloads from Microsoft Store/Xbox app hang or are extremely slow
- Go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Delivery Optimization.
- Under Download options, select Percentage of measured bandwidth.
- Uncheck or set to 100% any background/foreground bandwidth limits.
- Ensure the connection is not set as a metered connection under Settings > Network & internet.
- Reset Microsoft Store if needed (Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Store > Advanced options > Reset).
- If Microsoft Store apps in general will not download or update
- Temporarily disable or uninstall any third‑party antivirus or VPN and test again.
- Check that Microsoft Store Install Service is set to Automatic and running in
services.msc. - Make sure region, date, and time settings are correct.
If the card was redeemed successfully and the content shows as owned in Order history, but installation still fails after these steps, contact Microsoft Support from the account’s billing/order page for further investigation.
