Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
Hi @Michael Malakhov ,
Frequent Office crashes and loss of unsaved data are usually caused by add-ins, corrupted Office components, profile issues, or system-level conflicts (e.g., drivers or security software). The fact that Outlook sometimes won’t relaunch until a reboot also suggests a stuck process or external interference.
I recommend following the steps below:
- Review the Microsoft guidance linked below and apply the troubleshooting steps:
- Start Outlook in Safe Mode (Windows key + R →
outlook /safe) to check for add-in-related issues. If the issue does not occur, you can re-enable add-ins one by one to identify and disable the problematic one. - Perform an Online Repair of Office.
- Create a new Outlook profile if the issue persists.
- Ensure Office and Windows are fully up to date.
- Update device drivers (especially graphics and network), as outdated drivers can cause instability.
- Temporarily disable or review any antivirus/security software that may be interfering with Office apps.
- Perform a clean boot in Windows to rule out third-party services causing conflicts.
To reduce data loss, also make sure AutoRecover/AutoSave is enabled in your Office apps.
