Yes. The available options depend on whether the admin account is a Microsoft account or a local account.
- If the admin account is a Microsoft account Use one of these methods to reset the Microsoft account password, then sign in with the new password and provide it to Norton:
- On the Windows sign-in screen:
- Select I forgot my password.
- Follow the prompts to verify the account and set a new password.
- Or from another device/browser:
- Go to Reset password.
- Complete the verification steps and create a new password.
Once the password is reset, sign in to Windows with the new password and use that when Norton prompts for the Windows admin password.
- If the admin account is a local account
A. If still signed in as that admin account and only need to change the password:
- Open Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
- Under Password, select Change.
- Enter the current password (if known) and set a new one.
B. If not signed in and the local admin password is forgotten:
- At the Windows sign-in screen, select the password entry button.
- Select OK and then Reset password.
- Answer the security questions configured when the account was created.
- Set a new password.
C. If there is another administrator account on the PC
- Sign in with the other administrator account.
- Open Computer Management.
- Expand Local Users and Groups > Users.
- Right-click the admin user that Norton is asking for and select Set Password....
- Enter and confirm a new password.
After resetting the admin password by any of these methods, use the new password when Norton 360 prompts for the Windows admin password.
If no admin password can be recovered and there is no other admin account, the documented fallback is to reset the Windows device, which will remove apps and require setup again.
