To get the LifeCam VX-6000 working on Windows 10 using the downloaded ZIP driver package, use Device Manager to install the driver from the folder where the ZIP contents were extracted or opened.
- First, make sure the ZIP contents are in a normal folder
- If “Extract” is not shown on right‑click, open the ZIP once, then use File > Save As or drag all files from the ZIP window into a new folder (for example,
C:\LifeCamVX6000).
- Confirm that you now see normal files in that folder (INF, DLL, EXE, etc.), not a single ZIP icon.
- Open Device Manager
- Select Start, type device manager, then select Device Manager from the results.
- Locate the camera
- Expand Cameras, Imaging devices, or Sound, video and game controllers.
- If the camera is not listed there, use Action > Scan for hardware changes and wait for Windows to detect it.
- Install the driver from the unzipped folder
- Right‑click the LifeCam (or any unknown camera device with a warning icon) and select Update driver.
- Choose Browse my computer for drivers.
- Browse to the folder where the ZIP contents were placed (for example,
C:\LifeCamVX6000) and select Next.
- Follow the prompts to complete installation, then restart Windows.
- If Windows still does not use the driver
- In Device Manager, right‑click the camera, select Uninstall device, check Attempt to remove the driver for this device if available, and confirm.
- On the Action menu, select Scan for hardware changes to let Windows reinstall the driver, then repeat the manual Update driver → Browse my computer steps if needed.
If the camera still does not appear or work after this, check the PC or camera manufacturer’s support page for a Windows 10–compatible driver or guidance, as older cameras may not be fully compatible with Windows 10.
