Hi,

There must be an INF file.

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Cameras, Imaging devices, or Other devices and locate the camera.
  3. Right-click the camera and select Update driver.
  4. Choose Browse my computer for drivers.
  5. Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
  6. Click Have Disk > Browse.
  7. Navigate to the folder containing the .inf file, select it, and click Open > OK.
  8. Select the camera model from the list and click Next to install the driver.
  9. Restart the computer if prompted.

I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.

To get the LifeCam VX-6000 working on Windows 10 using the downloaded ZIP driver package, use Device Manager to install the driver from the folder where the ZIP contents were extracted or opened.

  1. First, make sure the ZIP contents are in a normal folder
    • If “Extract” is not shown on right‑click, open the ZIP once, then use File > Save As or drag all files from the ZIP window into a new folder (for example, C:\LifeCamVX6000).
    • Confirm that you now see normal files in that folder (INF, DLL, EXE, etc.), not a single ZIP icon.
  2. Open Device Manager
    • Select Start, type device manager, then select Device Manager from the results.
  3. Locate the camera
    • Expand Cameras, Imaging devices, or Sound, video and game controllers.
    • If the camera is not listed there, use Action > Scan for hardware changes and wait for Windows to detect it.
  4. Install the driver from the unzipped folder
    • Right‑click the LifeCam (or any unknown camera device with a warning icon) and select Update driver.
    • Choose Browse my computer for drivers.
    • Browse to the folder where the ZIP contents were placed (for example, C:\LifeCamVX6000) and select Next.
    • Follow the prompts to complete installation, then restart Windows.
  5. If Windows still does not use the driver
    • In Device Manager, right‑click the camera, select Uninstall device, check Attempt to remove the driver for this device if available, and confirm.
    • On the Action menu, select Scan for hardware changes to let Windows reinstall the driver, then repeat the manual Update driver → Browse my computer steps if needed.

If the camera still does not appear or work after this, check the PC or camera manufacturer’s support page for a Windows 10–compatible driver or guidance, as older cameras may not be fully compatible with Windows 10.
