The MS Teams subscription does not appear in the Admin Centre and therefore cannot be cancelled

I receive a monthly invoice for Microsoft Teams. I can’t see any entries in the Admin Centre. This means I’m unable to cancel this subscription. Several attempts via Support or the Assistant have all been unsuccessful. Who handles cases like this? At the moment, the only solution I can think of is to stop the direct debit. Surely it must be possible to cancel a subscription. How can I take this matter further?

    Hi @Herbert Ott,

I’m really sorry to hear how frustrating this situation has been for you.

To help look into this more closely, could you please share a few details with me via private message:

    • The invoice ID from the billing email you received
    • Your current domain name

I’ve just sent you a private message. To access it, you can click on the notification banner in the interface (as shown in the image):

Also, you mentioned that you’ve already tried contacting support several times. Just to better understand what’s happening on your side, could you tell me whether those attempts were made through the Microsoft 365 admin center or another channel? If you’re able to describe where exactly the process gets stuck, or even share a screenshot of that step, it would give much clearer context.

Since this is a user-to-user support forum, I hope you can understand that I don’t have direct access to your account or billing system, and situations like this are usually handled by the billing or support team internally. That said, I’ll do my best to reach out to the relevant team, gather as much useful information as possible, and guide you on the next steps so you can move forward.

Looking forward to your reply, and I’ll stay with you on this until we get more clarity.

Use two paths in parallel: check for self-service Teams app subscriptions, and then verify who is actually billing the subscription.

    1. Check for a Teams app subscription that can be cancelled in Teams
      1. Open Microsoft Teams.
      2. Select Apps > Manage your apps.
      3. Go to the Subscriptions tab.
      4. If the subscription appears there, select More options … > View subscription.
      5. Select Cancel subscription.
      6. If further billing settings are needed (for example, recurring billing), select Manage more in Microsoft 365 admin center from that same view.
This path only works for subscriptions that were purchased as a Teams app subscription by the signed-in account; other admins cannot manage those unless they take over the subscription in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
    2. Check if the subscription is a self-service purchase and take it over as an admin If the subscription was bought as a self-service purchase (for example, by a user directly in Teams or online), an admin can take control and then cancel it:
      1. In the Microsoft 365 admin center, open the subscription details page for that self-service purchase (if visible).
      2. In Subscriptions and settings, select Take control of this subscription.
      3. In the details pane, select Cancel subscription.
      4. Choose a cancellation reason and confirm Cancel subscription in all prompts.
      5. The Subscription status should then show as Deleted.
    3. If the subscription still does not appear anywhere If there is still no entry in either the Microsoft 365 admin center or the Teams Manage your apps > Subscriptions list, the most common causes are:
      • The subscription was purchased through a third party (for example, a retailer, Apple App Store, or Google Play). In that case, cancellation and refunds must be handled directly with that provider.
      • The subscription is tied to a different Microsoft account than the one being used in the admin center or Teams.
In these cases, use the guidance from the “Unable to cancel your Microsoft subscription” article:
      • Verify who the subscription was bought from (Microsoft vs. third party) and contact the retailer or app store if it is not a direct Microsoft purchase.
      • Confirm that the same Microsoft account that appears on the invoice is being used to sign in when checking subscriptions.
      • If there is still no cancel/recurring billing option and the subscription is billed directly by Microsoft, use the guided support entry point from that article to escalate to billing support.

Stopping the direct debit is not recommended as a first step because overdue balances can block cancellation until they are resolved. Use the account and billing checks above and, if necessary, escalate via Microsoft’s subscription/billing support channels referenced in the “Unable to cancel your Microsoft subscription” guidance.
