In Azure DevOps our company has lost permissions to Organization

We have lost access to our Organization and are getting the following error when trying to log in:

Selected user account does not exist in tenant 'IJYI Ltd' and cannot access the application in that tenant. The account needs to be added as an external user in the tenant first. Please use a different account

My colleague initially set this up whilst working with an external company called Ijyi.

If you could help re-associate it to myself or my colleague that would very much be appreciated.

Hi Bradley, it looks like your Azure DevOps organization is backed by the IJYI Ltd Azure AD tenant, but your Plant-Parts.com account isn’t a member there. That mismatch triggers the AADSTS50020 error “Selected user account does not exist in tenant…”

Please try below steps to resolve it and let me know if it works.

  1. Invite your work account into the IJYI Ltd Azure AD tenant as a guest
    • In the Azure portal, go to Azure Active Directory > Users > New guest user
    • Enter your colleague’s or your email and send the invitation
    • The guest must accept the invite (check their mailbox and click Join now)
  2. Enable external guest access in Azure DevOps
    • Sign in as the organization owner or Project Collection Administrator
    • In Azure DevOps, go to Organization settings > Policies
    • Under External guest access, make sure it’s set to On
  3. Go to Organization Settings>> Overview>> Microsoft Entra, and use the Switch Directory button (with caution).
  4. Add the guest user to your Azure DevOps org
    • Still in Organization settings, select Users > Add users
    • Enter the guest’s email, pick an access level, and click Add
  5. (If the org owner has left) Claim or transfer ownership
    • If you’re a Global Admin with the Azure DevOps Administrator role and the org is orphaned, sign in to https://dev.azure.com/PlantPartsLtd and click Claim ownership
    • Or, if an active owner still exists, go to Organization settings > Overview > Change owner and select your guest account

    Thanks for the information and checking in. We’re trying to get in touch with the old external company we previously used to see if they can action the steps you’ve suggested.

     

    From our perspective we have no ability to action what you’ve suggested, so we’ll chase again today.
