Linking work learning with my personal M365 account

Learning achievements and certifications from work can be surfaced on a personal Microsoft 365 account by linking and, if needed, merging Microsoft Learn profiles and by ensuring a personal (MSA) account is added to the Learn profile.

Use these steps:

1. Add a personal account (MSA) to the existing Learn profile that currently holds work-based learning:
   • Go to the Learn profile settings: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/users/me/settings.
   • Under Account Management, select Add login account.
   • Sign in with the personal Microsoft account that should retain all learning history.
   • Adding a login account that is already associated with a different Learn profile will trigger a Learn Profile Merge, which combines learning progress, credentials, and transcripts into one profile. This merge cannot be undone.
2. If there are multiple Learn profiles (for example, one created with a work account and another with a personal account), use profile merge to consolidate:
   • When the same login account is added to another Learn profile, the system offers to merge profiles.
   • After merging, all learning progress, credentials, and transcripts from both profiles are available under the merged profile, and sign-in is possible with all associated accounts.
3. Ensure a personal account is present on the Learn profile so learning data is retained independently of employment status:
   • A Learn profile created with a work or school account should have a personal Microsoft account added. This ensures continued access to learning history and credentials even if access to the work account is lost.
4. View and share achievements and certifications from the merged profile using the personal account:
   • Sign in to the Learn profile with the personal account.
   • Go to Credentials to see certifications and applied skills, and use Share options if needed.
   • Use Transcript to view, print, or share a consolidated transcript of all credentials.

Note: Work/school and personal Microsoft accounts themselves cannot be merged, but Learn profiles that use them as logins can be linked and merged so that learning data and certifications appear under the personal account’s Learn profile.
