A family of Microsoft presentation graphics products that offer tools for creating presentations and adding graphic effects like multimedia objects and special effects with text.
On PowerPoint for Mac, the full Recording tab is not currently available. The Recording tab and its features (including advanced recording controls) are only available to Microsoft 365 subscribers on Windows PCs.
To record yourself presenting on Mac, use the Slide Show recording option that is available:
- Open the presentation in PowerPoint for Mac.
- Use the Record Slide Show command (this is the Mac equivalent of the Windows Record tools described in the documentation).
- When recording starts, narrate and advance through the slides; PowerPoint records timings and narration.
- When finished, stop the recording and play back the slide show to review the narration.
If access to a Windows PC with Microsoft 365 is possible, enable and use the full Recording tab there:
- Go to File > Options > Customize Ribbon.
- In the right-hand list of tabs, select the Recording check box.
- Select OK. A Recording tab appears with Record Slide Show and related tools.
On either platform, once narration is recorded, export the presentation as a video if needed:
- Select File > Export.
- Select Create a Video.
- Choose the desired settings and select Create Video.
