add a video to my powerpoint presentation

I am in powerpoint and can't access the record button. when i click on powerpoint and preferences then ribbons and toolbar the boxes are not clickable. they are not lit up. there is a tab that says record slide show but it is not allowing me to record myself

    On PowerPoint for Mac, the full Recording tab is not currently available. The Recording tab and its features (including advanced recording controls) are only available to Microsoft 365 subscribers on Windows PCs.

    To record yourself presenting on Mac, use the Slide Show recording option that is available:

    Go to Help> PowerPoint Help in the PowerPoint menu bar then enter record in the Search field. Follow the instructions in the related topics there. Note that if you are accustomed to PowerPoint for Windows the Mac version of the program isn't the same. There should be no need to use the Preferences dialog.

    On a Mac the Record feature is available in several ways:

    • Slide Show> Record Slide Show in the main menu
    • The Record tool in the middle of the Slide Show tab in the Ribbon
    • The tools on the Record tab in the Ribbon
