The description for Event ID 56 from source Application Popup cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

PCI

01000000684CE00000

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table

Event ID 56 from source Application Popup with a message like:

Driver SCSI returned invalid ID for a child device (000000)

or similar PCI-related data typically indicates that Plug and Play (PnP) detected duplicate or conflicting device instance IDs for storage or PCI/NVMe devices. In Windows Server, this is a known condition when there are multiple paths to a disk or multiple NVMe devices of the same make/model.

In this scenario, PnP auto-generates unique instance IDs and logs Event ID 56. This event can be safely ignored and does not require user action. It does not by itself indicate a hardware failure or a direct cause of random restarts.

For random restarts every few hours, investigate other causes such as:

  1. Check System and Application logs for critical errors (e.g., BugCheck, Kernel-Power, driver faults) around the time of the restart.
  2. Look for hardware issues (power supply, RAM, storage) or driver/firmware problems unrelated to this Event ID 56.
  3. Ensure all chipset, storage, and PCI/NVMe drivers and firmware are up to date from the system or motherboard vendor.

Event ID 56 in this context is informational/benign and should not be treated as the root cause of the restarts.

I have this error as well. Could this be the culprit?

The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load.

    Device: ACPI\AMDI0080\1

    Status: 0xC0000365
