I am trying to add members to a GroupMe account. I enter all the information about the member. When I click on "add to group" a verification screen comes up, but does not present the verification exercise. Then it say, Failed to add to group.

Yes, you need to wait for the member to accept the invitation.

    Hi!

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

This sounds like the verification (CAPTCHA) challenge isn't loading properly, so GroupMe can't complete the "Add to Group" action.

Can I ask what browser are you using? Also, you need to try and use a different browser and see if the verification will load to continue add members. This is to isolate browser related issue.

    OR

You can also try these two methods as they bypass that manually adding members.

    1. Create a share link to the group so they can join themselves.
    2. Share a QR code for the group so the person can scan it and join.

Use a share link or QR code instead of adding the member directly, as recommended for this error scenario.

When trying to add someone to a GroupMe group, errors like “Failed to add member to ‘Group name’” or a generic “Something went wrong” can occur, and sometimes nothing happens after the verification step. In these cases, the supported workaround is:

    1. Create a share link to the group and send it to the person via email, SMS, or another app so they can join themselves.
    2. Alternatively, share a QR code for the group so the person can scan it and join.

Both options bypass the direct “add to group” flow and are the documented way to resolve add-member errors.
