No option to delete calendar group in Outlook

How do I remove unwanted groups that have appeared in my Outlook under both mail and calendar. When right click on them, there does NOT appear any delete option.

Go to https://outlook.live.com/groups/.

That's where you can leave the groups. (If it doesn't work, first click on the group, then click on the invitation email at the bottom, then click on the group name within the email, and then, there, click Leave Group. If that doesn't work, follow the same steps, but before you click Leave Group, first choose "unfollow from Inbox". Then it'll always work.)

The only problem is that this doesn't stop you being added to new groups. There doesn't seem to be a solution for this, and that's utterly unacceptable from Microsoft's part.

    It did not appear to have helped, however...

    I now learned that users can make changes to Shared Groups at https://outlook.live.com/groups/home. There you can click on shared group name, then select the three dots for more options and there you can (1) elect not to get e-mails from group inbox and (2) remove yourself as member of shared group.

    Now that I deleted all the Shared Groups that had me as a member, I can more clearly see if the changes I made to Privacy in Teams will also limit being added to new groups. Here is path to make the privacy change in Teams.

    1. Open Microsoft Teams and go to your Settings (gear icon).
    2. Select Privacy.
    3. Find the option “Manage who can add you to a group”.
    4. Change it from “Anyone” to “My contacts” so only people in your contact list can add you to groups YouTube.
    5. Save your changes.

    This setting helps reduce unwanted group invites and keeps your chat list focused on people you know.

    If your problem matches the one described in this older post, then they are Spam Group Joins and there is not a lot you can do about them.

    Hi Mike Bernardo,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum. 

    In new Outlook, the option may not appear from the right-click menu, especially if the item is not a calendar group that you created yourself.

    Please try checking it from the Calendar pane instead:

    Go to Calendar > find the unwanted calendar or group in the left pane > select More options (...) next to it > choose Remove if that option is available. If Remove is not shown, you can clear the check box next to the calendar/group name to hide it from your calendar view.

    If the same group also appears under Mail, it may be a Microsoft 365/Outlook.com Group rather than only a calendar group. In that case, deleting it may not be available unless you are the group owner. If you only want it to stop appearing for you, look for options such as Leave group or Unfollow from the Groups section.

    If none of these options appear, please let us know whether you are using a work/school account, because the available options can be different depending on the account type and group ownership.
