Hello,

I have recently been having countinous crashes especially when idle, first few times there was no minidumps but I finally got one today after having two consecutive crashes. I was hoping someone could tell me exactly what the issue is so i can fix it and hopefully stop crashing! Thank you!

Hi, to remove an incompatible driver, kindly follow the steps below:

Press the Windows key + X, then click Terminal (Admin) or Windows PowerShell (Admin)

Copy, paste, and enter the command:

dism /online /get-drivers /format:table

Look for ViGEmBus.sys or a driver related to that, then uninstall using the command below:

pnputil /delete-driver oem5.inf /uninstall /force

Note: This is just an example command wherein the incompatible published name driver is “oem5.inf”, replace it depending on your incompatible driver.

    Dear LateNightCoffey,

    After investigation,

I need you to check the below drivers In order

    1. CorsairLLAccess64.sys --> Corsair iCUE "Hardware monitoring, RGB control, fan and sensor access"
    2. AsIO3.sys --> ASUS Armoury Crate / AI Suite "Motherboard sensors, fan control, voltage monitoring"
    3. MsIo64.sys --> MSI monitoring/control driver
    4. vgk.sys --> Riot Games Vanguard "Kernel anti-cheat for VALORANT and Riot games"
    5. ViGEmBus.sys --> ViGEm Bus Driver "Virtual game controller emulation (DS4Windows, DualSense tools)" What yo can do?

Simply try to remove/uninstall software/ driver of each and check your system until you found the faulty driver

PRO TIP: Check the most recent updated one.

Additionally, a good old command can give you something run this: perfom /rel

I hope the issue got fixed. I am waiting you to come back and tell me what you did.

    Best,

    Mustafa.

Hi, I'm Bernard. I'm happy to help!

As per checking and analyzing the DMP file, there is an error Ntfs.sys. This error occurs when there is an issue with the file system, or there is a hardware-related problem which is on your hard drive. To sort out the issue, kindly follow the steps below:

Open Terminal (Admin) or Windows PowerShell(Admin) (Press Windows key + X then click Terminal(Admin))

Copy, paste, and enter the command below:

    chkdsk c: /f

Follow the prompt and restart the PC if needed.

Method 2. Do a clean boot:

A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program.

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type msconfig and select System Configuration from the results.
    • On the Services tab of System Configuration, select Hide all Microsoft services, and then select Disable all.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select Open Task Manager.
    • Under Startup in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then select Disable.
    • Close Task Manager.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select OK. When you restart the computer, it's in a clean boot environment.

Note: If the issue persists, I suggest contacting a local technician to physically check the device for any hardware-related issues.

Note: This is a public forum. I may respond shortly, but I apologize in advance for any delays. I am simply a fellow user trying to provide helpful insights and information.

The minidump itself is not available in the provided context, so the exact failing driver or module cannot be identified here. However, the context does cover general approaches for diagnosing random crashes and blue screens that occur when the system is idle or under light load.

Use the following steps to narrow down the cause:

    1. Confirm that dumps are being written correctly
      • Ensure the pagefile is on the system drive (usually C:) and large enough for at least a kernel or full memory dump. If the pagefile is too small, Windows may fail to write dumps.
      • The dump process writes to the pagefile (for example, C:\pagefile.sys) and then creates C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP after reboot. If the dump file is missing, check disk free space and pagefile size.
      • If MEMORY.DMP is missing or incomplete, check the System log in Event Viewer for events with source BugCheck and for errors about dump creation.
    2. Check Event Viewer for BugCheck and related errors
      • Open compmgmt.msc → Computer Management → System Tools → Event Viewer → System.
      • Look for events with source BugCheck around the time of the crash. These can show the bug check code (for example, 0x109, 0x139, 0xD1, etc.) and sometimes the implicated driver.
      • Also review Windows Error Reporting (Event 1001) entries with Event Name BlueScreen for additional details.
    3. Analyze the crash with WinDbg if possible
      • Use the Windows debuggers (WinDbg) to open the minidump or MEMORY.DMP.
      • Run !analyze -v to get the bug check code and any indicated driver.
      • Examine the stack trace with the k/kb family of commands to see what was executing at the time of the crash.
      • For bug checks like CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION (0x109) or KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE (0x139), this analysis helps determine whether a driver or memory corruption is involved.
    4. Check for driver or storage issues
      • If the bug check indicates a driver (for example, storage, GPU, or power-related drivers), update or temporarily remove that driver.
      • For crashes related to dump/hibernation or storage (such as when saving a dump or resuming), verify storage drivers and any virtual storport miniport drivers, as these can cause stop errors when the system writes dumps or hibernation files.
    5. Run hardware and memory diagnostics
      • Run Windows Memory Diagnostics (Control Panel → search for “Memory” → “Diagnose your computer’s memory problems”) and review results in Event Viewer under MemoryDiagnostics-Results.
      • Use any OEM-provided hardware diagnostics to test RAM, storage, and other components.
    6. Check for low disk space or large background logs
      • Ensure there is sufficient free space on the system drive; insufficient space can prevent dump creation and contribute to instability.
      • Large background logs or backup folders created by applications can consume disk space and indirectly contribute to issues; clearing unnecessary large logs has resolved repeated BSODs in similar cases.
    7. Review recently installed software and tuning tools
      • If overclocking, tuning, or OEM control utilities (for example, vendor “performance” or “crash defender” tools) were installed or updated around the time crashes began, temporarily disable or uninstall them and test stability.

If additional minidumps are produced, they can be analyzed with WinDbg following the crash dump analysis guidance to pinpoint the exact cause.
