Hi Lou Paradise,

I understand that you want to move your calendar data from classic Outlook to the new Outlook for Windows. Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, so contributors do not have access to your account or backend mailbox data.

The Q&A Assist answer is correct that new Outlook does not currently support directly importing calendar items from a .pst file. Have you had a chance to try the workaround it suggested?

I would only add one important point: please first confirm where the old calendar is stored. If the calendar is part of the same Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live, MSN, or Microsoft 365 mailbox, adding that same account to new Outlook should bring in the calendar through account sync. However, if the calendar exists only locally in classic Outlook or inside a PST file, new Outlook may not be able to bring that calendar over directly.

For reference, Microsoft’s article explains that new Outlook can access emails in a PST file, but importing emails, contacts, and calendar items is not available in new Outlook at this time: Import email, contacts, and calendar from an Outlook .pst file.

If the calendar still does not appear in new Outlook, please confirm whether the calendar is under a personal Microsoft account, a Microsoft 365 account, or a third-party IMAP/POP account, as the available options can differ by account type.

Calendar data cannot currently be imported directly from classic (old) Outlook into new Outlook for Windows using a .pst file.

    Key points and available options:

    1. .pst import is not supported in new Outlook
      • New Outlook can open .pst files only to access and move email items.
      • Calendar and contacts items saved in .pst files are not accessible in new Outlook.
      • Importing emails, contacts, and calendar items from a .pst file is not yet available in new Outlook.
    2. Supported calendar import into new Outlook
      • New Outlook supports importing calendar events from .ics files, and only for Microsoft 365 Exchange accounts.
      • To import an .ics file into new Outlook for Windows:
        1. Go to Calendar in new Outlook.
        2. Select Add calendar.
        3. Select Upload from file, then Browse.
        4. Choose the .ics file and select Open.
        5. Select the target calendar and choose Import.
    3. Practical migration approach
      • If the old Outlook calendar is in a .pst file, use classic Outlook to work with that calendar (for example, keep using classic Outlook for those calendar items), or export calendar data to an .ics file and then import that .ics into new Outlook as described above.
      • For now, full, direct calendar migration from old Outlook to new Outlook via .pst is not supported; follow future updates on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap.
