AI Skills Navigator login fails with HTTP 500 on /api/profile/session/token after successful Microsoft authentication

I am unable to sign in to AI Skills Navigator.

Authentication with my Microsoft account succeeds, including MFA through Microsoft Authenticator. After authentication, the site redirects to the loading page and then returns to the homepage without signing me in.

Developer Tools show the following error:

POST https://aiskillsnavigator.microsoft.com/api/profile/session/token

Response: 500 Internal Server Error

Troubleshooting performed:

  • Microsoft Edge

Brave Browser InPrivate/Incognito mode Same behavior in all cases

Additional information:

Microsoft Learn works normally. My Microsoft Learn profile and dashboard load correctly. Authentication and MFA complete successfully. The failure occurs only when AI Skills Navigator attempts to create a session token.

Azure Reference: 20260608T175627Z-17f8f7d984dz8d7xhC1MAA4a1s0000000du000000000dtfv

Has anyone encountered this issue, or can a Microsoft moderator investigate whether there may be a problem with account provisioning or the AI Skills Navigator backend service?

AI Skills Navigator sign-in succeeds through Microsoft authentication but fails when the site calls its own /api/profile/session/token endpoint and returns HTTP 500. This indicates a server-side issue in the AI Skills Navigator backend or account provisioning, not a problem with the local browser or Microsoft Learn account, especially since:

    • Microsoft Learn profile and dashboard load correctly.
    • MFA and Microsoft account sign-in complete successfully.
    • The issue reproduces across multiple browsers and InPrivate/Incognito sessions.

The supported next steps based on the provided context are:

    1. Treat this as a Microsoft Learn/AI Skills Navigator module issue and report it through the Microsoft Learn troubleshooting channel so it can be escalated to the service team:
      • Use the Microsoft Learn troubleshooting page referenced for module/sandbox issues and describe:
        • The exact behavior (redirect back to homepage, not signed in).
        • The HTTP 500 on /api/profile/session/token.
        • The Azure reference ID: 20260608T175627Z-17f8f7d984dz8d7xhC1MAA4a1s0000000du000000000dtfv.
    2. If the troubleshooting page suggests opening a support case, include:
      • Browser and version (for each browser tested).
      • Timestamp and the Azure reference ID.
      • Confirmation that Microsoft Learn and Microsoft account sign-in work elsewhere.
    3. If the portal or support flow requests a browser trace, capture it while reproducing the error and attach it to the support request, as recommended for portal/API failures.

Because the error is a 500 from the AI Skills Navigator backend and not a client-side sign-in failure, resolution requires investigation by Microsoft support or the AI Skills Navigator service team rather than additional local troubleshooting.
