In Windows the default app to open PDF files is the Edge browser.

If you want to open PDF files in a different app, right click a PDF file and select Properties.

On the resulting Properties dialog, click the 'Change' button.

Then select your preferred app from the resulting list.

That will reset the file associations on PDF files to open in your preferred app.

PDF files are opening in the web browser because Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge use the built-in PDF reader by default. When a PDF is selected (for example, from OneDrive or a site), it opens automatically in the browser’s PDF reader instead of another app.

    To work with this behavior:

    1. From OneDrive or a team site, when a PDF opens in the browser, use the browser’s PDF controls to view or print it.
    2. If editing is needed, download the PDF and open it in a desktop app such as Word, then convert it to an editable format (like .docx) before making changes.

This is expected behavior; the browser PDF reader is designed for viewing and printing, not editing.
