I have already received and used the $25,000 Azure credit through Microsoft for Startups. In the Azure portal (portal.azure.com), I can see a message stating that I am eligible for up to $150,000 in Azure credits.

However, when I go to the Microsoft for Startups portal (https://portal.startups.microsoft.com/), I do not see any option to apply for additional credits or move to the next funding level.

Could someone clarify how the process works? Am I actually eligible for additional credits, and if so, how can I apply for them? Or is the eligibility message in the Azure portal only a generic indication and not reflective of my current startup status?

Thank you.

The $150,000 figure in the Azure portal is a description of the overall Microsoft for Startups investor offer (most startups begin with an initial allocation and can receive more), not a guarantee that additional credits are immediately available or self-service redeemable.

    From the documented behavior:

    1. The investor offer typically starts with an initial Azure credit amount (for example, $100,000) with the opportunity to earn more based on usage milestones and program rules.
    2. Usage milestones are evaluated by calendar month, and when a qualifying threshold is met, the program team automatically verifies and updates the credit offer. No manual application or “redeem more credits” button is required.
    3. The $100/month usage threshold mentioned in the offer can be met with any combination of Azure credits or paid consumption. Meeting the threshold does not extend program duration; it only affects the amount of credits that may be added.
    4. All startup benefits, including Azure credits, must be activated and managed using the same Microsoft Account (MSA) that was used during program registration. Using a different account type (for example, a work/school Entra ID) can cause activation or visibility issues.
    5. Credits must be activated within 90 days of accepting the program agreement and, once activated, are valid for up to two years. Extensions are not available.

    In this scenario:

    • The message in the Azure portal about being eligible for “up to” a higher total (such as $150,000) is generic to the investor offer and describes the maximum potential benefit, not a confirmation that additional credits are already granted.
    • Additional credits, if applicable for the specific startup and offer, are applied automatically after the program verifies that the usage and eligibility criteria are met; there is no separate application step in the Microsoft for Startups portal.

If the startup believes the usage criteria have been met but no additional credits have appeared after the documented processing window (up to 30 days after reaching the milestone), the next step is to contact Microsoft for Startups Program Support from the Azure Portal:

    • Open the Azure Portal and use the Microsoft for Startups experience.
    • Under the Your Microsoft Team tile, select Get Program Support.
    • Program Support can confirm the current entitlement, check whether additional credits are due, and resolve any billing profile or entitlement issues.
