I have bought this Acer Aspire 14 AI laptop a couple of month ago and when go to zoom meetings, other people cannot hear me very good. I did not have this problem with my other laptops. Any idea what might be wrong? Thanks.

On a new Windows 10/11 laptop where others cannot hear clearly in Zoom, the most common causes are low input volume, wrong input device, or microphone permissions.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Check Windows microphone access
      1. In Windows 11: Select Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.
        • Make sure Microphone access is On.
        • Turn on Let apps access your microphone.
        • Turn on Let desktop apps access your microphone.
      2. In Windows 10: Select Start > Settings > Privacy > Microphone.
        • Select Change, then turn on Allow apps to access your microphone.
        • Ensure Allow desktop apps to access your microphone is On.
    2. Make sure the correct microphone is selected and working in Windows
      • Windows 11:
        1. Select Start > Settings > System > Sound.
        2. Under Input, in Choose a device for speaking or recording, select the built‑in microphone (or the headset mic if using a headset).
        3. Select > next to the device, then under Input settings choose Start test, speak normally, then Stop test and Play the sample. If the recording is very quiet, increase the Input volume slider.
      • Windows 10:
        1. Select Start > Settings > System > Sound.
        2. Under Input, select the correct mic in Choose your input device.
        3. Speak and check Test your microphone to confirm Windows is hearing you.
    3. Increase microphone level
      • Windows 11:
        1. In Settings > System > Sound, select your microphone under Input.
        2. Adjust the Input volume slider upward and re‑test.
      • Windows 10:
        1. Go to Settings > System > Sound.
        2. Under Input, select your microphone, then Device properties.
        3. On the Levels tab, increase Microphone and, if available, Microphone Boost, then select OK.
        4. Speak and confirm the bar under Test your microphone moves clearly.
    4. Check physical setup and background noise
      • Ensure the laptop’s microphone openings are not covered.
      • If using a headset, make sure the mic is close to the mouth (about 2 cm / <1 inch) and not muted on the headset.
      • Reduce nearby noise sources (fans, AC, etc.), as background noise can make speech hard to understand.
    5. Run the Windows Recording Audio troubleshooter
      • Windows 11: Settings > System > Sound > scroll to Advanced and choose Input devices under Troubleshoot common sound problems.
      • Windows 10: Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Recording Audio.

If, after these steps, the test recording in Windows sounds clear and loud, but Zoom callers still report low or unclear audio, the issue is likely with Zoom’s audio settings or the other participants’ playback devices rather than the laptop microphone itself.
