Problem solved. I hadn't used the "Work Offline" button within the Send and Receive tab before, thusly I had no idea that once pressed it does not switch between two states (Work Offline/Work Online), what happens is it changes the "working offline" message displayed on the status Bar down below into "connected to Microsoft exchange" for example.

If I had tried pressing it, I must have not noticed the switch in messaging.

The thing I don't remember pressing it in the first place at all, so glitch or not is not clear to me.

Anyway, lesson learned.

Cheers!

Use the following steps to fix Exchange email in Outlook when other accounts are working but Exchange has stopped updating:

    1. Make sure Outlook and Windows are fully updated
    • Out-of-date Outlook or Windows can cause connection problems.
    • Run Windows Update to install all pending updates.
    • In Outlook, go to File > Office Account > Update Options > Update Now to ensure the latest Outlook build is installed.
    1. Run the Outlook connectivity diagnostic (if using Microsoft 365)
    • If the Exchange account is a Microsoft 365 mailbox and an admin account is available, run the Outlook User Connectivity diagnostic.
    • This automated test checks for common connection issues and suggests fixes.
    1. Check for wider service issues
    • If more than one person using Microsoft 365 Exchange is affected, an Exchange Online service issue may be the cause.
    • An admin should check the Microsoft 365 Service health status page and review the status under Exchange Online.
    1. Repair or recreate the Outlook profile (if updates and diagnostics do not help)
    • Connection issues can be caused by a corrupted Outlook profile.
    • Create a new Outlook profile and re-add the Exchange account, then test whether mail starts updating again.

These steps address the most common causes: outdated software, connectivity problems, and profile corruption.

    Hi @Ray Ray

Based on your description, I understand that your Microsoft Exchange account has not updated or received any new emails on your PC for the past two days, whereas your other non-Exchange email accounts are working perfectly fine.

To help isolate the root cause, are you currently able to successfully send out emails from this Exchange account?

Since this is an Exchange account, the best way to determine if the issue is with your desktop app or the cloud server is to check your webmail. Please log into Outlook on the web (OWA) and see if your new emails are visible there.

Depending on what you find on the web, please follow the troubleshooting paths below:

If your webmail is working perfectly, it means the cloud server is fine, and the issue is strictly isolated to your local Classic Outlook desktop application.

    You can try:

    • Remove and re-add account. This will force a resync to the server.
    • Rebuild your .ost file: Close Outlook > Press Windows + R > Type in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Outlook\ > Look for your email address and delete it > Restart Outlook.
    • Create an Outlook profile - Microsoft Support

If you cannot receive new emails on Outlook web, it means that the emails never reached your mailbox.

Please check in Junk emails and Deleted items folder. If the emails are still not there, you might need to contact your IT admin and ask them to perform a message trace.

Message trace will help you check if the emails got blocked somewhere and never reached your mailbox.

Please give your IT admin this article: Message trace in the new EAC in Exchange Online | Microsoft Learn

I look forward for your reply.
