Managing tabs, address bar, and search settings in Edge on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Hi,
As shown in the attached screenshot, the latest Edge update (Version 149.0.4022.52) has forced a white border/rounded corners around the browser window.
This UI element is very distracting. I have checked both Settings > Appearance and edge://flags, but the option to disable "rounded corners" has been completely removed from my version.
Questions:
Is there a Registry key to disable this border?
Why was the toggle removed from the settings?
Please provide a way to get back the square, edge-to-edge view. I want the web content to touch the browser edges like before.
Thank you.
Managing tabs, address bar, and search settings in Edge on Windows 10
Hi,
The flag to disable rounded corners has been removed starting with version 149. This means that Microsoft is permanently applying the said feature throughout the browser to align with Edge and Windows 11 design.
A temporary workaround for this is to disable it using a launch parameter. Right-click your Edge shortcut, select Properties, and add the parameter to the end of the Target field.
Keep in mind that this is only a temporary fix and may stop working in a future version of Edge. Because of that, I recommend also looking for an alternative workaround in case this method is eventually removed.

I cannot believe this was forced. I cannot stand the rounded corners and now you took my ability to remove them away... Seems silly to Microsoft, but now I'll go back to Chrome after using Edge exclusively for work for years.
I'm switching back to Google Chrome right now, just because of this. I absolutely hate this rounded corners feature with all my heart. And I don’t like being forced to accept things.
This change is extremely frustrating and totally unnecessary. For anyone looking for a workaround, any websites you have "installed as apps" with Microsoft Edge do NOT have the rounded edges or white borders. However, it is impractical to install every website you visit as a Microsoft Edge app and pin them individually to your taskbar. However, you could install, say, Google as an app, pin it to the taskbar, and navigate within that window to all of your other regular websites (the same would work with installing YouTube as an app for border-free viewing).
To install a website as an app in Microsoft Edge, click the "..." in the top-right corner, go to "More tools", then "Apps", and then "Install this site as an app". It will give you some options such as "Pin to taskbar" (recommended) or "Pin to Start".
However, the best fix would be to allow end users to turn off the rounded edges and white borders. Please listen to us, Microsoft!
May 10, 2026 Update: For anyone having issues with the Microsoft Edge "update target parameter on the desktop shortcut" fix (the top solution in this thread), please note that Microsoft Edge has to be completely closed (i.e., exited from Task Manger's Background Processes or Windows 11 restarted) for that fix to work. I could not get that fix to work until I read another comment mentioning that, and that was what resolved it.
