the copilot app in my laptop is not working. The message I get is: Oops something happened. I tried to repair the App using settings, apps, installed apps, advanced options and then clicked repair. After going through this process, I get the message: it seems you are not connected to the internet. But I am connected to the internet. What else I can try?

Copilot app nor browser Copilot work anymore, albeit yesterday all was fine. The error I get in browser is: Error 1016

    Ray ID: a38a26b1bf73e7f5 •2026-09-10 00:00:13 UTC

    Origin DNS error

Everything else on my computer works, there are no connection issues, ONLY Copilot quit working.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Byron Martinez,

If the Microsoft 365 Copilot app on your PC isn’t working, it’s typically related to account validation, app state, or connectivity conditions rather than a permanent issue. Copilot relies on your signed-in account, licensing, and app components to be fully synchronized before it can function properly.

Here are some quick checking steps that you can try:

    1, Check account and subscription

    • Confirm you are signed in with the correct Microsoft account
    • Verify your subscription includes Copilot (if applicable)

2, Test if the issue is app-specific

    • Open Copilot web in a browser (e.g., Edge)
    • If it works there, the issue is likely isolated to the app session

    3, Check connection

    • Ensure stable internet access
    • Temporarily disable VPN or proxy (if used)

I understand how inconvenient this can be, especially when you rely on Copilot for daily tasks. The steps above usually resolve most cases, and they also help narrow down whether the issue is related to the app, account, or environment.

Try the following steps to troubleshoot the Copilot app on Windows when it reports connection issues even though the device is online:

    1. Run the Copilot connectivity troubleshooter
      • Open the Get Help app in Windows.
      • In the Search bar, type Copilot connectivity troubleshooter.
      • Select it and follow the on-screen steps.
      • This checks for firewall rules or other blockers that might prevent Copilot from reaching Microsoft services.
    2. Run the Copilot license troubleshooter
      • In the same Get Help app, search for Copilot License Troubleshooter.
      • Run it and follow the guidance.
      • This verifies that the account and device have the correct Copilot licensing and that the Copilot icon and features should be available.
    3. Reinstall the Copilot app
      • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
      • Search for Copilot.
      • Select next to Copilot and choose Uninstall.
      • After uninstall completes, reinstall Copilot from the Microsoft Store.

If the troubleshooters find issues, apply the suggested fixes and then try Copilot again.
