To stop paying the “advertisement free” fee for Microsoft games, cancel the related subscription or recurring billing on the Microsoft account being charged.
Follow these steps:
- Go to the Microsoft account Services page: https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the account that is being billed.
- Under Services & subscriptions, find the game or “ad-free”/subscription entry associated with Microsoft games.
- Select Manage next to that subscription.
- Choose Cancel subscription or Turn off recurring billing, then follow the prompts to confirm.
If a renewal charge has just gone through and a refund is needed, sign in to the same account, locate the charge, and follow the refund guidance for subscriptions and digital purchases. In some countries, subscriptions purchased from Microsoft Store may be eligible for prorated refunds.
If the subscription was purchased through a third party (for example, a console store, app store, or retailer), cancellation must be done through that provider’s billing/support channel.
