Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
How to install Office 365 on Android phone as one of the 5 devices that comes with my subscription?
I have an annual subscription for Microsoft Office 365 Family Classic. It says I can install it on 5 devices, including Android phones. I can't figure out how to install it on my Samsung phone. In the Play Store, I found two apps. One is Outlook for Android and one is Microsoft 365 Copilot. The Outlook app seems to be a free version (with ads) of the full office suite that I paid for. MS 365 Copilot does not seem to be what I want either. How do I install the office suite that I paid for and subscribe to onto my phone?

2026-06-05T19:16:06.4666667+00:00 On Android, the Microsoft 365 subscription is activated by signing into the mobile apps, not by installing a special “paid” app. Use the Microsoft 365 Copilot mobile app (the all‑in‑one Office app) or the individual Word/Excel/PowerPoint apps and sign in with the same account that has the Microsoft 365 Family subscription.
Step‑by‑step:
- Install the correct app(s)
- For the all‑in‑one experience, install the Microsoft 365 Copilot app for Android from the Google Play Store. This app combines Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in one place and supports premium features when used with a qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription.
- See: “Microsoft 365 Copilot app for Android” and “Install and set up the Microsoft 365 Copilot app on an Android”.
- Alternatively, install Word, Excel, and PowerPoint individually from the Play Store if preferred. These are also the correct Office mobile apps for subscribers.
- For the all‑in‑one experience, install the Microsoft 365 Copilot app for Android from the Google Play Store. This app combines Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in one place and supports premium features when used with a qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription.
- Sign in with the subscription account
- Open the Microsoft 365 Copilot app (or Word/Excel/PowerPoint if installed individually).
- When prompted, sign in with the Microsoft account that owns the Office 365/Microsoft 365 Family Classic subscription.
- If you don’t see a prompt, go to the app’s account or settings area and add/sign in with that Microsoft account.
- Use the subscription features
- Once signed in, the app recognizes the active Microsoft 365 subscription and unlocks the extra features that come with it on mobile.
- You can view, create, and edit files for free, but the subscription is what enables the “extra features” described in the mobile apps documentation.
- About “5 devices”
- The “5 devices” limit applies to full desktop installations and sign‑ins, but on mobile you simply sign into the apps with the same subscription account. The Microsoft 365 Copilot app and the individual Office apps are the correct way to use the subscription on Android.
Outlook is only for email, calendar, and contacts and is separate from the Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) functionality. To use the Office suite you paid for, rely on the Microsoft 365 Copilot app or the individual Office apps, signed in with the subscription account.
