There was a reoccurring charge on my account that I never ordered or authorized. This was for [Resident Evil Requiem Deluxe Edition](https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/resident-evil-requiem-deluxe-edition/9pc9tlbhhg89/0010"Resident Evil Requiem Deluxe Edition") and it was billed several times, however I never ordered or authorized this order. This is fraud. The email that is associated with the purchase is not mine nor is it real.

Take the following steps immediately to address the fraudulent recurring charges and prevent further misuse:

    1. Protect the payment card
      • Contact the bank or card issuer right away.
      • Report the charges for Resident Evil Requiem Deluxe Edition as unauthorized.
      • Ask for a chargeback on all transactions that were not authorized.
      • Request that the bank block future Microsoft/Xbox charges on that card and consider issuing a new card number.
    2. Remove payment methods from any Microsoft account used
      • Sign in to the Microsoft account dashboard and go to the Payment options or Manage your payments page.
      • Remove any payment methods that should not be stored.
      • On the Manage your payments page, use the Investigate option for any unrecognized charge to see which account or subscription it is tied to and follow the guidance under How to investigate a billing charge from Microsoft.
    3. Check for unwanted subscriptions or orders
      • Go to the Subscriptions/Services section of the Microsoft account dashboard and look for any game, Xbox, or other subscriptions that were not set up intentionally.
      • If any are found, turn off recurring billing and cancel them.
    4. Request cancellation/refund from Microsoft
      • For game or app purchases from Microsoft Store, contact Microsoft Store Support and explain that the charges are fraudulent and associated with an email address that is not yours.
      • Provide transaction dates, amounts, and any order numbers from the bank statement so support can locate and cancel the related orders or subscriptions.
    5. Prevent future unauthorized purchases
      • On Windows 10/11 devices, open the Microsoft Store app and:
        • Go to Settings / App settings.
        • Turn off I want to buy without a password, for faster checkout (Windows 10) or turn off Purchase sign-in (Windows 11) so a password is always required.
      • On Xbox, set the console to require a passkey for every purchase: Settings → Account → Sign-in, security & passkey → Change my sign-in & security preferences → Customize → Ask for my passkey to make purchases → Passkey required.
    6. Harden account security
      • Change the Microsoft account password and enable two-step verification.
      • Review recent sign-in activity and remove any devices or sessions that are not recognized.

If the email address shown on the purchase is not yours and appears fake, treat this as possible fraud involving a different account using the card details. The combination of bank chargeback, removal of the card from any Microsoft account, and contacting Microsoft Store/Xbox billing support is required to stop the billing and address the fraudulent activity.
