Nuance Microphone buttons not working for any dictation

For Nuance microphones used with Microsoft’s healthcare browser SDK, only certain buttons can be handled by applications. The Play, Stop, Record, Fast Forward, and Fast Rewind buttons are non‑customizable and do not raise events to the app; they provide fixed, built‑in behavior only:

1. Record: Starts recording audio.
2. Stop: Stops recording.
3. Fast forward: Moves the cursor to the next field.
4. Fast rewind: Moves the cursor to the previous field.

If these buttons are not working for dictation in Dragon/Nuance software, verify the following based on the Microsoft browser SDK guidance:

1. Use a supported environment
   • Microsoft Windows is required.
   • Google Chrome must be used with the Nuance PowerMic Web Extension installed.
   • If the extension is missing and a Nuance PowerMic is detected, the browser app should prompt to install it.
2. Check the microphone hardware and setup
   • Ensure the microphone is not muted via a hardware button.
   • Confirm wired devices are firmly connected and wireless devices are powered on and charged.
   • Check that the microphone is selected as the input device in Windows sound settings and that the input level responds when speaking.
3. Use the standard button behavior
   • Press Record on the device and start speaking.
   • Use Rewind/Fast Forward to move to the previous/next field.
