Microsoft Places booking a room for a full day

Currently as a user, when im in the portal and select Duration, this is limited to only a few hours, and if I select Book it will only book for a default 30minutes.

Is there a way to book a resource for a full day via https://places.cloud.microsoft? (I do not want to do this via Outlook)

Cheers

Hi Dan Snell,

Thanks for the clarification.

I’ve tested this in my environment and tried several configuration changes, but none of them affected the booking duration in Microsoft Places.

User's image

This appears to be a built-in UI behavior designed for quick, ad-hoc bookings. The most effective workaround for now is to create a meeting in Teams or Outlook, set it as an all-day event, and then add the room as the location.

Since this feature is quite new and it's in need for many upgrade. I believe this configuration could be greatly impacting to your workflow, I highly recommend submitting a suggestion directly to Ideas · Community. Hi Dan Snell,

The booking policies for desks in Microsoft Places, including duration limits, are set at the resource mailbox level via Set-CalendarProcessing and apply directly to what users see in the portal.

Since it's used the same systems with Teams and Outlook, booking policies can be applied to desks using the Exchange PowerShell command Set-CalendarProcessing by the administrator. This controls what users can and cannot do when booking through Microsoft Places.

You can reach out to the IT admin and ask them to check the current duration setting by using PowerShell

Get-CalendarProcessing "roomname" | Select MaximumDurationInMinutes, MinimumDurationInMinutes

This confirms what limit is currently set and explains why the user sees a restricted duration in the portal.

They con config the booking time to full day by set the maximum duration to 0, or whichever value you want:

    Set-CalendarProcessing roomname -MaximumDurationInMinutes 0

However, setting the value to 0 means the maximum duration of a meeting is unlimited.

For more information, please consult: Set-CalendarProcessing (ExchangePowerShell) | Microsoft Learn

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

I'm looking forward to your reply
