Meeting unrecorded

Technically, if the meeting was not actually recorded and live transcription was not started during the meeting, there is usually no way to recover that original Teams recording or transcript afterward. 

A few things are still worth checking: 

Note: the checks below would apply only if there is reason to believe the recording or transcription may actually have started, but the file is now missing. They would not change the outcome if the meeting was never recorded or transcribed in the first place.

1. Confirm whether recording or transcription ever started 
   If no one saw the recording or transcription start notification during the meeting, that usually means Teams did not create the file. 
2. Check the storage location if the recording should exist 
   • For a non-channel meeting, recordings are typically saved in the meeting organizer’s OneDrive > Recordings folder.
   • 
   • For a channel meeting, recordings are typically stored in the team’s SharePoint Documents library.
3. Check the recycle bin 
   If the file existed before but was deleted, moved, or expired, it may still be recoverable from OneDrive or SharePoint recycle bin. Also check the second-stage if possible, in your tenant.

For the transcript, if live transcription was never started during the meeting, Teams does not provide a supported way to generate that original meeting transcript afterward. 

One related note: if a recording file does exist, captions can sometimes be generated later from the video in the browser player, but that is not the same as recovering a Teams transcript that was never created during the meeting itself. 

If this is a business or school environment and the meeting should have been recorded, it may help to ask your IT admin to verify the meeting recording/transcription settings and whether the file was saved, moved, or deleted. Since recording and transcription availability can depend on organizer settings, permissions, and admin policy.
