For the last two or three days, while I am using Microsoft Edge, when I am watching video reels on MSN an election reminder site keeps popping up an ad for Voteinfo.net from the Riverside County voters agency. Whenever it pops up it locks up the video I am watching and I have to re-fresh my video again to get it started and then it comes back again later. Why are you letting this annoyance continue? why is "voteinfo.net" locking up videos playing on msn.com
Managing media playback issues and settings in Microsoft Edge on Windows 10
AI answer
The behavior is caused by how the MSN site displays and overlays ads and notifications in Microsoft Edge, not by Edge “allowing” a specific political ad. When an overlay (such as a pop‑up style ad or notification frame) appears on top of the video, it can interrupt or pause playback, which looks like the ad is “locking up” the video.
To reduce or stop this behavior in Microsoft Edge on Windows 10, adjust site permissions so MSN cannot open disruptive overlays or notifications:
If the issue persists only with specific political or election‑related creatives, it is controlled by the site’s and ad platform’s policies rather than by a per‑ad control in Edge. Edge can limit how those ads appear (via pop‑up and notification controls), but it does not selectively approve or reject individual political ads on MSN.
