Hello,

I am a student and previously had an Azure for Students subscription associated with my Microsoft account and university email address.

My Azure for Students subscription expired several months ago and is no longer visible under my Azure subscriptions. My university email address is still active and I am still eligible as a student.

When I try to obtain Azure for Students again using the same Microsoft account, I receive the following error message:

"Unable to renew Azure for Students"

Could someone please help meScreenshot 2026-06-02 18330

Azure for Students can be renewed each year as long as the student status is still valid and the offer conditions are met. When the original Azure for Students subscription expires (after 12 months or after the $100 credit is exhausted), the subscription is canceled and no longer appears under active subscriptions.

Key points from the offer behavior:

    1. Azure for Students provides $100 credit for 12 months plus access to free services. After the credit is exhausted or the 12 months end, the subscription is canceled if it is not upgraded to pay-as-you-go.
    2. If still a student at the end of 12 months, the subscription can be renewed by signing up again for the Azure for Students offer on the Azure for Students website.
    3. The FAQ explicitly states that Azure for Students can be obtained again next year by signing up again just before or after the anniversary, provided eligibility requirements are still met.
    4. If the offer cannot be renewed (for example, if eligibility is no longer valid or the offer limits are reached), the alternative to continue using Azure is to upgrade to a pay-as-you-go subscription.

Given the “Unable to renew Azure for Students” message, the supported actions are:

    1. Confirm that the academic eligibility requirements are still satisfied (full‑time student at an eligible institution and verification via institutional email).
    2. Attempt renewal by signing up again for the Azure for Students offer from the Azure for Students website as described in the FAQ.
    3. If renewal still fails, contact Azure support from the portal to investigate the specific account or subscription issue and to determine whether the offer can be renewed or if a pay‑as‑you‑go upgrade is required.
