The font color wont change changing

Hello, I am trying to use word on my Ipad and I need to change the font color. For some reason I can't see when I change the color it stays black. For example if I input Hello and highlight it to change it to red, it won't change it stays black is there any form I can see when I change the color? Word works great on my computer, but not in my Ipad. I already change it to mobile view but it stays the same.
