    Hi Paul Gittel,

Your previous connection state cannot be recovered, so you must initiate a completely fresh request to generate a new queue position. You can do this through the native Windows Get Help application. If you cannot easily locate it, you can press the Windows key plus R to open the Run dialog and execute the URI command ms-contact-support://, which directly forces the operating system to launch the built-in support application package. Once open, select your product and request a new live chat or callback.

Alternatively, you can bypass the local operating system entirely by navigating to the official Microsoft Support website in your browser.

Use one of these options to reconnect with a live Microsoft support agent:

    1. Use the Get Help / Contact Support flow
      1. Open the Get Help app on Windows (type Get Help in the Start menu search and open it).
      2. Type Chat with an agent and press Enter.
      3. Select Contact support at the bottom.
      4. Choose the product and service that matches the issue (for example, Windows or Windows Server) and follow the prompts.
      5. When offered, choose Chat with a support agent or Call me back to speak live with a technician.
    2. Use the online Contact Microsoft Support site
      1. Go to the main Microsoft Support entry point such as Contact – Microsoft Support or Contact a Microsoft support agent.
      2. Sign in with the account associated with the product.
      3. Select the relevant product category (for example, Windows or Microsoft 365 for business if applicable).
      4. Enter a brief description of the problem and select Get Help.
      5. If self-help options don’t resolve the issue, choose Contact Support, then select Chat or Call me back.
    3. For Visual Studio subscription technical support benefits (if applicable)
      1. Ensure a Contract ID and Access ID are available from the Visual Studio subscription benefits.
      2. Sign in to the Support for business portal at the URL provided in the subscription documentation.
      3. Select the product and issue details.
      4. Choose the support type, enter the Access ID and Contract ID, and complete the steps to submit a new incident so a support engineer can contact back.

If the previous session was disconnected and there is no callback, starting a new support request using one of the methods above is required to get reconnected to a live technician.
