Unfortunately, that is correct since your account's security info has been modified by the hacker already.

You may try reaching out to Microsoft Support, as they can possibly "Suspend" the account permanently once they have confirmed that the account can no longer be recovered in order to prevent the hacker from using it:

https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact?SourceApp=smc2&ContactUsExperienceEntryPointAssetId=S.HP.SmcContactUsLanding

Type "Microsoft 365 sign-in problem" > Click "Get Help" > Scroll down and select the option "Sign in to contact Support" > Microsoft 365 and Office > Billing and Account Profile Questions > Confirm > then select "Chat with a support agent in your web browser"

Best regards,

Darhyl

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

I'm sorry you are experiencing this.

Since the security info has been replaced by the hacker, I'm afraid there is no other working method to recover the Microsoft account, and Microsoft Support cannot help either.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Best regards,

    Darhyl

For a hacked Microsoft/Minecraft account where the email and security info were changed, recovery is only possible through Microsoft’s official account recovery and hacked-account process. If the attacker has fully replaced the email/phone and security info, recovery may no longer be possible.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Run a malware/antivirus scan
      • On Windows 10/11 or 8.1, use Windows Defender to run a full scan to ensure the device is clean before changing any passwords.
      • Open Start → search for Windows Defender → follow the prompts and run a full scan.
    2. Try to recover the Microsoft account
      • Use the hacked/compromised account troubleshooter and sign-in helper: How to recover a hacked or compromised Microsoft account and the sign-in helper at Start.
      • This will typically lead to the account recovery form. Provide as much accurate information as possible (old passwords, approximate creation date, services used, etc.). Images of playing on the account are not used by the automated system, but all remembered account details should be entered.
      • If the recovery form repeatedly fails and security info was replaced by the attacker, the account is generally considered unrecoverable and support cannot override the automated decision.
    3. If access is restored
      • Immediately change the password.
      • Review account settings such as connected accounts, forwarding, and automatic replies to ensure nothing malicious remains.
      • Add additional sign-in/verification methods (phone, alternate email, authenticator) from the Advanced security options page so recovery is easier in the future.
    4. If access is not restored
      • According to the guidance, if the recovery form does not succeed and the attacker has changed the email/phone and security info, there is no other supported method to regain that Microsoft account or the linked Minecraft profile.
      • For Minecraft-specific options (such as what can be done with the game profile), contact the Minecraft team using the official Minecraft support channel referenced in the guidance.

To prevent future issues, use strong, unique passwords and multiple verification methods, and avoid sharing credentials or using untrusted “free rank” or similar offers.
