A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
The message indicates that the email being used is treated as a personal Microsoft account, but the Microsoft 365 Family subscription must be associated with a specific Microsoft account, and Word/Excel must be signed in with that exact account.
Follow these steps in order:
- Confirm which account has the Family subscription
- Close all Office apps.
- Go to the Microsoft account Subscriptions page: Subscriptions.
- Sign in with each personal email address that might have been used to activate the Family subscription.
- Verify which account actually shows an active Microsoft 365 Family (or Personal) subscription. That is the only account that will work for activating Word and Excel.
- Sign out of the wrong account in Word and Excel
- Open Word (or Excel).
- Select the name/profile icon at the top right.
- Choose Sign out for all listed accounts.
- Close Word/Excel.
- Remove cached Office credentials (if needed)
- Open Control Panel → Credential Manager → Windows Credentials.
- Look for any entries related to MicrosoftOffice16 or old Microsoft/organization accounts and remove them.
- Close Credential Manager.
- Sign back in with the correct subscription account
- Reopen Word or Excel.
- When prompted to sign in, use the personal Microsoft account confirmed in step 1 that shows the active Family subscription.
- After sign-in, go to File → Account and, if available, select Update License so the apps pick up the correct subscription.
If the @skopeindia.com address is a work/school address but the subscription is a Microsoft 365 Family (home) subscription, do not use that work address in the desktop apps. Use only the personal Microsoft account that owns the Family subscription.
