Hello Microsoft Support Team / Community,

We are a Microsoft 365 nonprofit tenant and we are currently locked out of our tenant.

Our Global Admin account requires Microsoft Authenticator MFA, but the phone was replaced and the Authenticator registration is no longer available on the new device. As a result, we cannot complete MFA and cannot access the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.

The issue is not a password reset. This is a tenant access recovery / Global Admin MFA lockout scenario.

Details:

  • Tenant domain: xxxxxx
  • Locked Global Admin account: xxxxxx
  • Affected account / file owner: xxxxxxxxxxxxx
  • Issue: Microsoft Authenticator MFA is required, but the registered device is no longer available
  • We cannot open a support ticket from the affected tenant because admin login requires MFA
  • The phone support flow redirects us back to online support pages and does not allow us to reach a human representative

We need assistance escalating this to the appropriate Microsoft 365 Data Protection / Tenant Recovery team so that Microsoft can verify organizational ownership and reset/remove the MFA authentication methods for the locked Global Admin account.

We can verify ownership using any required Microsoft process, including:

  • official nonprofit / organization registration documents
  • tenant/subscription information
  • alternate organizational contacts

Please advise how we can start the tenant recovery process when we cannot access the Admin Center at all.

We would appreciate urgent help or escalation to a private support channel.

Thank you, Aviram On behalf of B’Netivei Udi / Nitzanim

Hello Aviram a,

The issue pertains to a tenant lockout, where no other global admin in the tenant has the necessary permissions to login and make changes in your tenant.

To resolve this, we have engaged our Data Protection team through a support ticket. They will reach out to you via email or phone to help restore access to the tenant and assist in resolving the issue.
