Copilot text in PowerPoint on Mac is designed to be edited directly in the slide text boxes rather than copied out and reused elsewhere. When the compose or rewrite features are used, Copilot inserts or replaces text inside the selected text box; that content can then be edited, regenerated, or rewritten again with Copilot.
To work with Copilot-generated text reliably in PowerPoint on Mac:
- Use Copilot inside the text box instead of copying from a separate Copilot pane:
- Click the text box on the slide where the text is needed.
- Select the pen button that appears.
- Choose either a compose option (for new text) or a rewrite option (for existing text), such as:
- Custom prompt
- Add text on a topic / Add key insights from the slide / Add a title / Add a caption
- Auto‑rewrite / Condense / Make professional / Visualize as a list
- Select Keep it to commit the text into the text box.
- Once the text is in the text box, standard copy/paste within PowerPoint should work as usual.
- If copy/paste from Copilot output still behaves unexpectedly, use these workarounds:
- Instead of copying from any Copilot side panel, first insert the text into a slide text box using Keep it, then copy from the slide.
- If formatting is the issue, paste as plain text into another text box and reapply formatting.
- Ensure PowerPoint and Microsoft 365 apps are fully updated on Mac, as Copilot text features and behavior are tied to recent builds. After updating, restart PowerPoint and macOS to ensure the latest Copilot behavior is loaded.
