How to fix download error code 0x80040155

I am getting Error code 0x80040155 when updates below fail:

  • 2026-05 .NET Framework Security update (KB5087051)
  • 2026-05 Security Update (KB5089459) (26200.8457)

How do I fix this please?

    To be able to assist you better, please clarify the following:

    • Do you have a third-party antivirus installed? If yes, which one?
    • Do you have any VPN software installed? (Even if it's not running at the moment) If yes, which one?

    Also. What is the current "OS Build" of your Windows 11?

    • Press "Windows + R", type winver, and click OK.

    If you prefer, share a screenshot. Use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

    Microsoft Defender is all I have I think - I have not installed any other antivirus software.

    Also how do I check about the VPN software - I do not think I have it but not sure.

    Not sure if you got my screen shot or not.

    Windows 11

    Microsoft Windows

    Version 2SH2 (SO Build 26200.6899)

    The windows 11 Pro operating system and its users' interface are protected by trademark etc...
