If you are unable to save a file in Word on Android, this can be caused by account configuration, storage location, or app-related issues. Please review the following checks to help narrow down and resolve the problem:

Verify sign-in status

Ensure you are signed in to the Word app with your Microsoft 365 account
If you are not signed in, saving to OneDrive may not work

Check save location

Try saving the file to OneDrive or this device (local storage)
If saving to OneDrive fails, test saving locally to confirm whether the issue is cloud-related

Test AutoSave and manual save

If using OneDrive, ensure AutoSave is turned on
Try using Save As instead of relying only on AutoSave

As an alternative, you may try sharing the document as a link if it has been saved to the cloud instead of through Gmail or WhatApp.

On Android, the document must be saved to local storage or the cloud before it can be shared via apps like WhatsApp or Gmail.

Try these steps in Word on Android:

Save the document
1. In Word, tap the three dots (⋮) menu.
2. Tap Save or Save as.
3. Choose a location:
  - OneDrive, SharePoint, or another cloud location, or
  - This device (local storage).
4. Enter a file name and confirm the save.
Share as a link (cloud file)
1. Open the file in Word.
2. Tap Share.
3. Tap Copy link.
4. Open WhatsApp or Gmail and paste the link into your message.
5. Adjust permissions (edit/view/download) from the gear icon next to Copy link if needed.
Share as an attachment (Word or PDF)
1. Open the file in Word.
2. Tap Share.
3. Tap the three dots (⋮) > Send a copy.
4. Choose Word document or PDF.
5. Select WhatsApp or Gmail from the app list to send the file.

If sharing still fails, confirm the file is actually saved (you can open it again from Recent or from the folder you chose) and that the device has a stable internet connection when using cloud locations.
