i am unable to save a presentation in pdf in Powerpoint. An error message "Error exporting file as pdf:the online service is not available in your region. please contact the administrator". however, i am able to save the ppt on my local drive. this is only occurring for powerpoint and not word.

To better understand your situation, may I kindly clarify the following details:

Could you please share which version of PowerPoint for Mac you are currently using?
If you try a different internet connection, for example using a mobile hotspot, does the issue still occur?
Based on my research, this issue is often related to the option “Best for electronic distribution and accessibility” when saving as PDF. May I ask if you experience the same behavior when selecting “Best for printing”?

May I kindly clarify whether this issue started after you updated PowerPoint, or if it has been occurring since the beginning?

In the meantime, you may consider removing PowerPoint and reinstalling it using the updater.pkg from the available versions listed in the Update history for Office for Mac - Office release notes | Microsoft Learn

the solution does not solve my problem. i have tried to solution provided in (1) and am still getting the same error message.

PowerPoint on desktop does not require an online service to export to PDF, so use the built‑in local export instead of whatever online PDF service is failing.

On macOS PowerPoint, export the presentation as PDF using these steps:

Open the presentation in PowerPoint.
Select File > Export.
Choose PDF (or Create PDF/XPS depending on version).
In File Name, enter a name and confirm PDF (*.pdf) is selected as the file type.
Optionally select Standard (higher quality) or Minimum size (smaller file) and click Options to adjust which slides/content are included.
Select Publish (or Export) to create the PDF locally.

If using PowerPoint for the web, avoid any “online service” PDF option and instead:

Select File > Print.
Under Printer, choose Save as PDF.
Select Save, then choose a location and save the file.

These methods use the local or browser PDF generator and bypass the online PDF export service that is blocked in the region.
